Them friends that asked you to stop, talk to them, they obviously care about you and want to keep you self harm free. Vent at them when things get tough. Do yoruself a favour, get a online blog, block everyone from reading and and use it to vent into, say whatever you feel without anyone judging you, iit really does help.

Um....Reading This gave me tears. One of my really best friends cuts. She claims to be "sober" but she walks into school with long sleeves and new bandages around her wrists every week. I've tried to get her to stop since the Sixth Grade, (we are in eleventh now) I've broken some of these guidelines. I've gotten angry with her and even triggered her a couple of times. I;ve gotten scared so many times, i thought i was going to have to go to her funeral. We aren't as good as friends anymore because i had to break off our friendship because i began cutting because i couldn't stop her. I have two long scars on my legs. So that proves that people do it to their legs. And cutting is a release, it's like a guilty pleasure. It's horrible but i've been there and now i know what to do.

Thanks for posting this, it helps to know that there are other people out there understand where I'm coming from when I say I don't know why I cut, whether there's a reason or not and I'll go 'crazy' if I don't. I've cut for about a year and 7 months now and I told a friend of mine when it first started, it's kind of frustrating b/c someone would say the word 'cut' and she'll turn to me and whisper "You haven't lately, have you?" which DEFINATELY brings my confidence level down a few notches. Thanks again for posting this.

You can't "treat" someone who self harms. They are living people not a "something". They have to want to stop hurting there selves. Sometimes they want to but can't stop other times they don't want to stop.You have to ask your friend that first.Do you want to quit?
