I don't understand how the environmentalists have so much influence in the US government. US based their decisions on computer models about what may happen. And we all know how accurate the weather man is. They can barely forecast the weather for the weekend but the environmentalists take computer predictions 50 years into the future as fact. What really pisses me off is that those environmentalists didn't even talk to the Nunavut people who have lived with the polar bears for thousands of years. The US decision to list polar bears as threatened is based on misinformed public opinion which disregarded sound science and Inuit traditional knowledge. It is unfortunate the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has decided to disregard facts collected by those who have the greatest contact and longest history with polar bears. The truth is that polar bear populations are at near record levels. The polar bear population is at its highest in over 30 years up from 5000 to todays' population size of 25,000.
