So when I slide on metal strings, my string makes a creaky sort of noise. Which really isn't attractive in the middle of a pretty song. Is it supposed to do that? Or is there some technique I don't know to stop that from happening...

Acoustic or electric? Acoustic you usually seem to here the sliding metal sound more. On electric guitar though I usually hear the sound from the amp way more than that sliding metal sound.

Classic acoustic. And uhh. Metal. I have no idea what brand, I just took it to the store and the guy just took it and changed them for me. Probably an irresponsible thing to do not asking what brand but yeah.

Ok, I know exactly what sound you are talking about. I'm assuming you are using an acoustic guitar. Acoustic guitars tend to make that sound, which makes country/bluegrassy songs sound great. If you would like to stop the sound, I would try pressing harder on the strings as you slide from fret to fret.

I have an acoustic as well, and when you do slides, just push down really hard I guess... If it's unavoidable than it's probably the normal sound you're hearing.  Maybe next time you change your strings, ask the guy at the store if he could recommend a certain type of strings to help minimize the sound.
