What country and why?

I wouldn't exactly say I'm considering expatriation, but I do want to study abroad for a couple years. That would be neat.

And I'm really falling in love with London. I don't know how great it would be actually living there, but still.

I honestly doubt that anyone here will ever become an expatriot.

So I have become attracted to the idea of getting my graduate degrees in France and never leaving. Anyone else interested in possibly adopting a new country?

I've thought about it, but I don't know that I could really adjust to life abroad.

I don't even have a country to begin with! I was born in Crete and lived in England, Spain, Portugal, Scotland, and Russia, and and Angola, and now I'm in the US. I think no matter where I end up I'm expatriating. I love Germany though, I think I'll wind up there in the end.

Because when I was young, I had all these dreams of living in another country, and then reality set in.  Granted, I'm only 19, but I can see that in the 'real world' you don't just pack it up and live in France.  Unless you are wealthy, it ain't gonna happen.

Livewire isn't exactly a small selection of people and people expatriate all the time. I'd find it harder to believe that nobody here was going to leave their country than that some will.

I've already expatriated a few times, I've lived in Iceland, New Zealand and Guam. Maybe I'll join the French Foreign Legion next.

Perhaps China, perhaps France or Spain. I'm not sure yet.

Many people consider expatriation only when they are about the retire.
