I really want a new Apple, either an iMac or one of the laptops but I've used Microsoft all my life and I heard Apples are so much better but I have no actual experience with them.

I heard there's a lot of problems with Windows Vista and Microsoft is kind of annoying.

So you tell me which would you pick? Apple or Windows? And why.

Since it's free, experiment with Linux first.

Well, you do know you can run Windows on a apple computer.
It's called dual booting. I'm not sure about the small details about how you can do that but yes, from a legal program you can partition your apple computer and run windows on it.

As far as apple goes, just know that you are going to be paying more money for the same specifications than companies like dell and what not.

I like both, personally.

Mac can be confusing, but it's honestly not that much different than Windows. In fact, I personally think it's a little easier to use due to the fact that you can just about anything within a few clicks, whereas on Microsoft, you're guessing where a file will be and hope it's the one you want.  You just have to be willing to sit down on a Mac and just play around with it- when I first was learning to use one, I ended up going to the library and borrowing a Dummies book on so I could learn things on my own.

it depends on what you want to do with your computer. If you ONLY plan on using it for school for a few years, then go ahead and buy a mac. But you can't play very many games on a mac, and you can't upgrade them. Also, they are way overpriced, and if anything on them breaks, you have to wait for quite some time to get it repaired, because you can't just replace the parts, you have to send it in to apple under warranty. And last, if you've only ever used windows, then the mac interface is confusing at first, and it takes a while to get it to run the way you want it to.

But on the other hand, Vista is a slow and clunky operating system that is simple to operate, but it takes a lot of effort to make it do what you want.

Windows if you want to game and like to upgrade your computer hardware often.

Apple if you have no clue about computers, not much of a gamer, not interested in the best of computer hardware.

Get a Mac - they don't have as many problems and they are super-simple to use.
