Yeah, there are many different levels of addiction but either way addiction is addiction. But I got a question when people drink like adults don't they do it to escape reality? I mean the only reason why I bother to ever drink alcohol is the escape it gives. As far as I know most adult drunks use it to escape reality. Also it's a depressant or something like that.
It is a depressant, but people drink alcohol for different reasons.
eg) I drink it because it makes me more sociable and relaxed, not because I need to get away from the situation.
Most adults that drink it (and don't have an alcohol problem) drink it socially or to relax, not to escape reality.
