I don't see the problem with it. It's no worse than alcohol and tobacco which are both legal.
Not only is it "no worse", objectively it's actually BETTER than alcohol and tobacco. But it's not like the legality of a substance tells us if it's good or bad...

In any case, in my experience smokers are often in denial when they try to justify their marijuana use -- denial about how it's slowing them down mentally, making them depressed etc.

On the whole, people are better off not smoking anything at all.

I agree, but I don't believe the government should have the right to tell us what we can and cannot put into our bodies.

It doesn't slow me down if I don't smoke too much, I actually like smoking a joint before going to class, classes are more interesting to me that way.

Marijuana does not make you depressed, it makes you happy. When you're not high you don't feel the need of it you just might like it enough to be psychologically dependant, but that doesn't happen to everyone.

Depends actually. Say I start smoking methamphetamine and speed in large doses. That turns me crazy and I start beating on innocent people. Suddenly it's no longer an issue of "what I'm putting in my body", but rather how the substance is affecting my behaviour and civil order.

Sure, but you were the one who chose to smoke it in the first place. I believe you should be able to choose what you put into your body, but that at the same time, you need to be held accountable for whatever happens when you're under the influence of that substance.

I think it's okay if it's controlled and doesn't interfere with your productivity. If it's out of hand then that's not good., but it does help open minds up and relax. I would say that it's better than both cigarettes and alcohol because it's less harmful and less impairing.
