I'm using a Vista laptop, and I typically use a bluetooth mouse with it. Every so often the mouse won't be able to connect, so I have to reinstall it. That happened again today, but my computer won't even fucking recognize that the mouse is there. What's the problem, and how do I fix it?

Bluetooth mouse?
I've never heard of it.
Can you turn the bluetooth on and off on the mouse?

Indeed you can. It has the switch, then the blue button that you press so it's easier for the computer to detect.

The mouse is typically used by business people, I believe. Since it's technically called a "travel mouse". Might be why you haven't heard of it, haha.

Are you sure it's nt driver related? What software are you using for your bluetooth adapter? Have you tried bluesoleil? Works brilliantly for me!

That depends on the mouse you are using. I'm not too experienced with this, but the adapter and mouse should do the work themselves, letting the computer see it has a wired USB mouse at least. I hope there ie enough power going to the bluetooth adapter though the USB.
Beyond that, I think you should have a look at the manufacturers website in their support section. I bet they have one, especially with FAQ's.

Hey, you and me both.  I have a Vista Lenovo Thinkpad and the Microsoft Bluetooth mouse (the white one without any adapter).

I find that if I leave the mouse on and then close my laptop, boom, the mouse doesn't work if I turn it back on.  This is absolutely frustrating, as my macbook has no such issues.. (hopefully BT will be better in the future).

But, this is what you want.. some sort of easier solution.  I have a little switch on my computer that turns off and on the wireless and bluetooth radios (this might be a switch or a Fn+Key for you).  I find that if I turn it off then on, it will cause the Bluetooth to cycle and my mouse will work again.

It's a whole lot easier than reinstalling..

See if that works.

I've got spurs that jingle jangle jingle.
As I go riding merrily along.
And they sing, "Oh, ain't you glad you're single?"
And that song ain't so very far from wrong.
