Buying soda in school is stupid for the following reasons:

1. It's expensive (add up how much you spend per month)
2. It makes you thirsty (as all sugar filled drinks do)
3. It leads to diabetes and obesity
4. Diet sodas contain aspartame which is toxic to humans
5. It encourages states to reduce school funding when the school receives "outside funding" from soda sales
6. It makes you hyperactive and less able to concentrate in class

Our schools have already taken them off the shelves. There is now only milk drinks, juices and water (two of which high in sugar though a better option). I think it's a great initiative. Soon enough they plan to ban most unhealthy foods. Kids are just getting too fat for their own good, and schools are only baiting.

Oh, okay, so the teachers first complain about the "hyperactivity" they have in class, and then when they ban soda, they complain that we're not "getting enough sleep". Then they get the parents involved, which pisses them off because not only do they have to put up with work, they have to put up with teachers and principals and school boards telling them how to raise their kid.

Yeah, sure. I'd rather have hyperactivity in my class than all that bullshit anyday. If they're creating problems? Send them to the principal.

So in your opinion we should drug students so that they have more energy in class?

It also supports the soda businesses themselves, who with that money can continue sponsoring schools and milking profit out of school kids. Bastards.

Hey, what do I know, I live in the UK. We don't even call the stuff "soda", I'm not even sure what it excactly means. And our schools are 100% state sponsored, not sponsored by outside companies. And we don't have soda in school available.

In my elementary school, we weren't allowed to have pop in the vending machine. So instead, they put in Fruitopia...like that is any better.

Great, good thing Bill Clinton has that covered...

I'm so happy that all the soda machines at my school were replaced by "juice" by the same company, Pepsi Co., which have no fruite content whatsoever and are just as sugray as those sodas they were selling us. Not to mention the caloric content. wtf?
