Buying soda in school is stupid for the following reasons:

1. It's expensive (add up how much you spend per month) - I'm rich
2. It makes you thirsty (as all sugar filled drinks do) - Good I like it, I'll drink more
3. It leads to diabetes and obesity - I'm the thinest person at my school... and diabetes is mostly genetic
4. Diet sodas contain aspartame which is toxic to humans - so drink regular soda
5. It encourages states to reduce school funding when the school receives "outside funding" from soda sales - I goto a private school
6. It makes you hyperactive and less able to concentrate in class  - I never concentrated anyway...

so, theres no difference whether you buy soda at school or out of school? who cares what th teachers think? youre missing the point. sugar leads to so many life controlling marketing tactics, no one will ever understand it. you really want to make a difference? do what i did. picket the school, go on strike, its your right as a student. victory in the masses.. make them pay..

I get soda for 60% of the price because one of my teachers sells it at a fair price. It's normaly $1.25 USD, she sells it for $.75 USD.

This is stupid! You don't gain weight from soda unless that's all you ever consume!

The cost is cheap compared to candy bars!

Sugar keeps us up and aware, just don't over do it!

Soda is rank. That's why our school supplies apple and orange juice.

All fizzy drinks are banned in my school, have been for a few years now.

Also no un healthy food.

You know, almost no school food is healthy.

Most schools in England now actually only sell healthy food, like salad, fruit or the meal if the day which is usually a roast.  We banned vending machines about 4 years ago and our schooldoesnt sell any chocolate.  The only drinks that they sell aswell is water, milk and pure apple and orange juice.  most people actually do try and be healthy and buy fruit instead of bringing sweets.

Ok here are my feelings on this issue.

First and foremost, buying soda at your school is completly your decision.
The school should be able to sell and market any products that help with school funding.  You mention obesity, might I add that you would have to drink very very large quanities of soda to achieve either obesity or diabetes. For instance I drink around 6 cans of soda a day, regular, not sugar free, I have yet to show any signs or symptons of obesity or diabetes.  Forcing schools to remove their soda machines, is not only wrong, but it also sends the  wrong message to the students.  That message being, you won't have to make good choices with food/beverages, we will make them for you.  That obiviously makes the students less self reliant.  I believe that if students make the "wrong" decision regarding soda, ala drinking large amounts of it, they themselves should suffer the consequences.
Thank you for reading
