First off let me say Hello and Welcome to LiveWire
I hope you enjoy your time here
So you don't get lost or confused when browsing around the forums (because, let's face it, it's a big place) I'm going to highlight some key features that are included in the site to get you started:
LiveWire gives you the ability to post images and videos in your posts, you can do this by adding the "tags" as they're known, into your post;
To place an image into your post simply type:
[*img] PLACE IMAGE URL HERE [*/img]
Remember to remove the *
To embed a youtube video into a post simply type:
[*youtube] PLACE VIDEO URL HERE [*/youtube]
Remember to remove the *
You can also place videos that aren't from youtube into a post, unfortunately you cannot embed them, but you can post them as a link, just type:
[*link] PLACE URL HERE [*/link]
Remember to remove the *
You can use the "link" tags to post a link to anything, not just images and videos.
The full set of "LiveTags" are listed here
Once you have opened an account on LiveWire you will have your own personal Image Basket (aka IB) which can easily be accessed by selecting "Image Basket" which can be found on the sidebar, from here you can post pictures of yourself, hobbies/interests etc.
Think of it like a giant photo album.
Tips on how to use the Image Basket are located here
Please bear in mind that there are rules on what your images can depict, you cannot post an image if it deems to be pornographic, vulgar, or offensive to any of our other members at any time.
A moderator will make the decision on whether or not your image passes LiveWire's guidelines.
These are the guidelines for posting pictures (they also serve as a guide for the Image Basket):
- Do not upload photos or images which are pornographic, vulgar, or offensive to any other users.
- If you are under 18 you agree only to upload photos of yourself with the permission of a parent or guardian.
- Do not upload photos of a person less than 13 years old.
- You will not upload photos of someone without their permission. (except celebrities).
If you are not sure if your image meets the guidelines and would like to know, feel free to message a moderator and ask. The full list of image rules are here
Moving on, as you know, this is a support forum, so some members would like to be able to make topics asking for advice on an embarrassing problem or issue and not have other members know who they are, so when you make a topic and would not like other members to know your identity, for whatever reason, you can make your reply anonymous, to do this, simply click "New Topic", write your post, and then tick the box next to "Make this topic anonymous".
Bear in mind you can only make up to two anonymous topics and four anonymous replies a day, so use them wisely.
Also note that if you abuse the anonymous feature (e.g. use it to post pornographic content or harass members or to spam) a moderator can check who wrote it, so it's not an opportunity to muck around.
If you do break the rules regarding an anonymous topic or reply, that post will most likely be removed.
If you've posted something in a topic and want to now change that information for whatever reason, you can edit your post by viewing it and clicking the "Edit" button to the right of your name.
Now as you've probably noticed, each member appears to have a different ranking next to their name, the reason for this is because when you do things like make a topic or a reply, you are paid one point, points are like currency here on LiveWire, they can be swapped or even taken away if you've broken the rules.
The basic points system is explained in greater detail here
Reward Points are the points you can give to other members - ways that you can earn yourself reward points are here
As you gain yourself these points you move up through different ranks - the names of all the ranks and the amount of points you need to get there are all outlined in here
Most of the time newer members tend to make topics asking questions, when the answers to those questions can be found elsewhere online, e.g. "What's the name of that band's new single?" etc. so to avoid asking such questions so irrelevantly, below are a list of sources where you can find information easily without having to make a topic about it:
Finally, the entire FAQ menu which you can use if you need help on anything is right here
I think that's everything you need to get started, so get posting and have fun, and maybe you can learn a little something along the way too!
