Righty, have a question.

I currently own the domain davidlyness.co.uk.  I use davidlyness.moved.in for free web hosting.  I have set up the .co.uk domain to just forward everything to the moved.in domain, so that, for example, a user visiting davidlyness.co.uk/tech would be forwarded to davidlyness.moved.in/tech.

My question is this: is there a way to pull stuff from the moved.in domain, while still displaying the .co.uk domain in the browser?  (I experimented with a full-page frame, but the initial address visited just 'stuck', so for example if someone viewed davidlyness.co.uk and then clicked on a link to take them to LiveWire, the address bar would still read davidlyness.co.uk.)

All assistance appreciated!

Yes, you can set up a parked domain by making your DNS server the same as the free website, however they'll have to offer this service (which most likely they don't, as with free hosting). Masked domains are similar and can achieve the same effect, and this should be able to be done with your registrar.

On a side note, I'd recommend you to get proper hosting (ie, paid for). It can be found relatively cheap these days and will be able to offer what you want to do without the forward and will most likely have plenty o other features.

You need to set your name servers of your domain on your registar to that of Moved.in, thats if they provide such service.

I can provide cheap paid hosting if you want one one of my servers too, as you may grow out of the limitations of the free hosting over time.

Apply a CNAME record for davidlyness.co.uk to davidlyness.moved.in.

You can get paid hosting for around the same price as you can get a .co.uk domain these days; it's not worth the hassle of trying to mask free hosting.

I'm not sure if your web host would allow you to use your own domain. If they do then update your name servers of your domain to the same one as davidlyness.moved.in.

If you're unsure how to do this go to the website where you bought your domain. for example: http://www.godaddy.com you should be able to log-in and change settings there.

Then you would have to enable your domain with your website. You should have acsess to some sort of cpanel. which would allow you to do this yourself, it's pretty simple.

If your webhost doesn't allow you to use your domain i would be happy to offer you good webhosting, and we would also be able to use your domain properlly. (not just use it to redirect)

If you have any further problems, send me a message and i will help you in any way i can.
