Sometimes I wonder if it would be possible to almost live an alternate life while dreaming.

If someone could remember each of their dreams with clarity, and they could lucid dream, to the point that they could control everything, then they could technically create an alternate world.

You can feel emotions, you can speak, you can act in a dream.  If you wanted to, you could introduce the aspect of supernatural, telepathy, telekenesis, alchemy, superpowers...

A dream can seem equally as real... it's almost like the internet, you could be who you want to be, and create yourself your own life.  And if you would continue this 'life' each night, then it's almost as if you live in two worlds.

The only key is that in a dream, if you are lucid dreaming, you have control over others... and that's the fault.  Ultimately, whether consciously or not, it is all coming from your own brain...

I dunno, I just think it's an interesting though, borderlining on the idea of lucid dreaming and it's possibilities.

Anyway... anyone ever thought about anything like this?  Not that anyone will bother reading.

You think so?  I don't see it as being to difficult to control too alternate lives, since the two don't interrelate.  Of course, I suppose there would be problems if you start combining the two.

Hmm...

the problem is even if you did have complete control you may not remember any of it

Yes, but for those that can lucid dream (I can't), I don't think they forget so easily, as they are conscious of the fact that they are dreaming, and are in control.

Though I suppose it would be strange if one night you were so tired that you didn't dream, or didn't remember... and the next night, you couldn't figure out where you were.  Your dream self would panic!

yeah, Because you know exactly what happened so you;d start recalling things into each of the separate lives, and then you'd start forgetting things, and not remember which reality was which, then it'd be a horrible spiral into insanity!!

Pretty interesting stuff, actually.  I like to think of dreaming like a perk to living, like a taste of something that will never happen..
Although your body lets experience it. when sleeping.

I have since i have been a lucid dreamer since i was little.
Sometimes when i lay down i can focus on my dream that i had the night before and i can continue it.

Its harder to do now though, it was easier when i was younger.

Rolf, that would suck, Like you'd go to tell your friends a story about something that happened to you, then you realized that happened in your dream XD, (I've done that btw...)

I've also questioned that.  But as I've died in dreams a few times, or others have died, but reappear, it would be strange.  Then again, who's to say that a true reality from dreams would follow the laws of life that we follow today.

And then you think... are YOU the one in control of this reality, or are YOU just a mere member of a dream that I have created?

But if we get into your argument, then we'd have to question what a dream truly is, and what reality truly is.

I thought about it a lot a long time ago. When I was like 11. I have different things to think about now. But yeah, that was one thing I pondered on for a while.

I used to wonder what would happen if you forgot which world was the real world and which world was the dream world.

I had a dream that I failed an exam... and I woke up and I thought, "man, I can't believe I bombed that exam so badly.  It was supposed to be so easy.  And what kind of teacher doesn't give you credit for having a computer mess up your floppy disk!"

It was after a few minutes that I realized I hadn't even taken that exam yet... lol.
