I'm Ashkenazi Jewish so that counts.  We were in every one of those countries until the Holocaust, there were 3 million Jews in Poland alone in 1939 and Yiddish had almost as many speakers as Polish did at the time if you count the whole region.  My family is from Romania, Poland, Ukraine and the small part of Russia that is discounected from the rest of it and what was then the country of Galitzia which is now split between a bunch of countires.  Jewish food (not Israeli but Ashkenazi) is basically Polish food with some middle Eastern influence and the music from the area is strongly Eastern European and Gypsy influenced.
