How long does it usually take for files to be uploaded?

Every site I've owned before it was instant. I'm pretty sure it should be, right?

Are you just replying to get points, or do you actually know what the fuck you're on about?

FTP upload speeds arent amazing.

For small files it should be relatively instant though.

Depends on the size of the file, as with any uploading device.

But why FTP? It's riddled with danger. Using passive mode usually skips the firewall problems, however.

Ringo: I don't know, I guess more people write to me.

What the fuck are you talking about?

FTP is "hella" fast.

File Transfer Protocal.

It's meant to be fast. It's faster than HTTP.

It's your connection that makes them not so great.

Anyways, glad to hear you got it sorted, OP. You can add more extentions by editing your .htaccess file (if it's a Linux box) or using IIS for a Windows machine.

You cant compare FTP and HTTP speed wise.. There two different protocols for two different things.

And its not just your connection.. Its the spec of the server, the connection speed to the server, the ammount of concurrent connections etc

How can you NOT compare FTP to HTTP?

Sure they're meant for different things, but one can't ask; "Which is faster? FTP or HTTP?"

Edit: Also, yes I do agree that it depends on the server side. But, usually an FTP and/or web server is serving on a pretty speedy connection and even if it's a cable connection - it would still 99% rely on your connection. The server is "downloading" from you. You're uploading to the server. These days, unless you have a T1+ connection, any cable or DSL connection is going to have a faster download rate than upload rate.

Concurrent connections to the server does matter here too - but usually for a typical web sever, 5000000 people aren't connected at the same time. MAYBE...MAYBE...50, tops.

You're a complete moron. Go chill with marshmellowman.
