It's bothering me. -- LiveWire College Forums

So my boyfriend and I have been dating for about 2 years and lately, I have been unhappy so over the weekend let him know what was wrong. I've been unhappy because lately I'm the only one who suggests plans, he doesn't have money a lot of the time so consistently rejects my plans, when I text him we never really have anything to talk about or he doesn't reply, we hardly laugh, and the overall relationship is not flirty or romantic. After I told him some of this he just said, "WTF why are you PMSing today?" and said that he didn't feel like hearing that I was pretending to break up with him. He noted that he'd turn off his phone during the day so when he gets home from work we could have more to talk about. We didn't mention the conversation further. Well, today, we were just randomly talking and I jokingly said the cell phone idea has been ineffective because I still end up randomly texting him during the day. He said it isn't ineffective for him because then he can be excited to talk to me when he gets home. I said, "I don't get that excited from talking to you--just being honest", also jokingly. Then in a serious tone he called me a bitch and was like, "Well, I know a lot of girls prettier than you--just being honest" and "You are getting fat--just being honest" (Because I feel like I've gained weight lately and have been trying to exercise and diet more) And for some reason, that really hurt and bothered me during a movie we were seeing. Anyway, I guess what it comes down to is that I don't feel like this is rewarding relationship because there's no humor, no romantic or flirty comments, no compliments, no "I love you"s. When I try to break up or even take a break, he says that he cares too much about me, and while I do care about him, I'm not sure if I've just become attached. I guess I also feel underappreciated, despite when I mention how I feel to him.
