The Humane Society is offering a $2,500 reward for information into the July 4 drowning of a female Pit Bull in the Cedar River.

King County Animal Care and Control officials said someone tied a gas can filled with concrete around the neck of the dog, then dropped it into the fast-moving river and leaving it there to die.

A necropsy performed on the animal found it may have been alive before being submerged into the river.

"This is a horrific and tragic case," King County Animal Care spokeswoman Nancy McKenney said. "We need more information from the community to help find those responsible for this needless death."
