Had a lengthy discussion on this question in class the other day...

Can a machine "think"? Will a machine ever be made which is capable of true conscious thought?

I am strongly convinced the answer is no but what does everyone else think?

depends, if the machine could learn what ever it wanted to learn it will eventrally grow a intelligence as its knowledge gave it stucture to think
