My mom's birthday is today.

Today is my mom's birthday. My sister and I offered to take my mom out and buy her a couple of outfits at the mall the other night as a birthday present... She has a date tonight with this guy she's been seeing and we're celebrating tomorrow, so we offered to get her something to wear on her date.

Well, when we went to the mall, she basically turned down everything me and my sister picked out that we thought would look nice on her - she doesn't want knee-length skirts because she thinks she has fat legs... stuff like that.
Well, she just got really frustrated and brought us home.

So as of right now, I don't have a birthday present for her. I also don't have access to a car which I could drive to go buy her a birthday present with.

I'm thinking about just taking her out to dinner and then going to the movies and seeing The Dark Knight tomorrow. I feel bad, but what else am I supposed to do?

you offered and tried - thats the thought that counts - if you take her for dinner and the movies it'll be enough - she'll be spending it with her kids :) but its not your fault she turned it down

It's her fault if she refused all that you and your sister offered, I mean you were trying your best. So no need to worry, anything is fine really, parents don't really care what their children give them as long as it is out of love and they are together they are happy.
