I recently moved out of my parents house and got an apartment. I was so excited for this day and I thought it was what I needed. It was time for new responsibility and to take that next step in adult hood. Sounds good, right? No, not so fun.

Have you ever watched True Life on MTV? They aired an episode about young people who cannot find work and are in a scramble to find a job because their current lifestyle is shit. I watched that show before I moved out and I thought, "That wouldn't be me. I would be more smart about it."

Well, little do you know, some things you just cannot control. Like not being able to find a job. so, here I am doing work for my parents to get rent money in, trying to get money for food, and always being broke as fuck. I always hear about people bitching about how hard it is to make a living. It's so fucking true.

I'm learning responsibility alright and willing to do anything to make money. This decision has set me back so far. I couldn't even go to college this summer and I'm not even sure if I can go in the fall.

It's too late to move back home now, though. All I can do now is pray that I can find a job soon and start to save money. I can't even get assistance, so let's that something happens soon.

My best advice to you, make sure that you have a job when you move out. If you have a job, then make sure that you'll be working there for awhile. Save a large sum of money before moving out, so you'll have a back up if you do lose your job. Make sure that you look around your area well. You might end up paying higher than you should be. If you're young and can still live with your parents during college or on the dorms, THEN DO IT.

Don't be stupid and think you can handle it at first. It's new and exciting at first, then that responsibility kicks in. Just make sure you have a nice back up plan at all times.   I might have done it the wrong way, but I'm learning. Learning a lot!

No joke.  Stay in school as long as possible.  Let mom and dad foot the bill as long as possible.  If you're older than 20 you need to get out of the house, but let the folks pay the bill if they're willing.

You moved out without having a job?  How'd you afford first and last month's rent?  And how did you expect to pay rent regularly? =\

I had a job when I moved out. I've been getting rent money from my parents. They have me do things that they can't do. Such as scraping off the paint on the house, rebuilding the deck roof, and fixing up the garage.

Sell your computer?

I'm not even at home at the moment.   Selling my computer wont do much. That would last me a day.

It's so funny hearing how kids bitch about their parents and can't wait until they can leave and such, but what they don't realize is what you didn't. Life is hard, life is unfair, and life is unpredictable. One day you have a job, the next you don't. One day, you have food on the table, the next you don't. Everyday is hard and difficult, it's kinda like a race. And you look back on the days you didn't have to worry, when you were sheltered by your parents, and everything. Isn't it just ironic? When you were small you wanted to be grown up and without your parent's rules, and now, you want to be back there?

Everything you've said is pretty much true. It's very ironic.
