we've been talking about sex for a few months, just about it in general.  but now we've both felt we're ready for a while.  i'm scared of how much it will hurt and what people will think of me.

i know i shouldn't, but i do.  i don't want to lose my virginity to a boy i love unless i know it's going to be a good thing, and i know it is.  but there's some people who don't like us together (namely my best friend) and i don't know what to do.

I'd check the laws.  In my state, age of consent is 16.  You should make sure you don't do anything you will get in trouble for.  Not to mention, I'd be against it simply so you don't risk childbirth. Because you fuck up once, and you're screwed for life.  (no pun intended).  But it's your life.  If you want to gamble, go ahead and throw the dice.
