Glasses with vision that's hardly bad?

I've had this problem for awhile now...I have trouble seeing things that are far away. I went to the eye doctor a couple of years ago, and they said I had perfect vision.

Well, I went to a different one just today, and he said that I have 20/25 vision in one eye and 20/30 in the other and a little bit of astigmatism. He told me that mots people with vision like that choose not to have glasses, but that it was my choice. When he had the prescription lenses, I could see a lot better, and more clearly, and he noted that...So I was like yeah, I'll take glasses because I'd like to be able to see more.

My mom doesn't believe me that glasses would help me even though It's really only distance that I have trouble with...the doctor said I was obviously struggling and she said she would only be willing to pay for them if I wear them all the time, but she really thinks that I just want them for some odd reason.

What do you guys think?

Yeah, you need them. If you don't wear them you're just punishing your eyes.

Oh, I'm getting them...But because my mom thinks I just want them as a fashion accessory, I'm trying to get other people's opinions.

I think my vision was like 20/80 or something and I didn't bother wearing glasses, I could see well enough that it wasn't that big of a problem. I mean, I had some prescription sunglasses I wore when I drove, day or night, because they were far superior to normal glasses (they were concave, and glasses SHOULD be rounded, not flat, because flat glasses give you distortion around the edges of your vision and that's dangerous when driving, frankly, these sunglasses felt like putting on another pair of eyes where I could see perfectly). In the classroom, SOMETIMES I would put on normal prescription glasses, even though I thought they were nerdy and I hated them. If I needed to see the board.

Then I got Lasik surgery and now my vision is essentially superhuman, 20/10 in one eye, 20/15 in the other, combined 20/12 vision, almost twice as good as a person with supposedly ideal vision. To me now, 20/20 seems like bad vision. I expect to be able to see things from further away than people even with good vision. It's awesome. I remember when I first got the surgery, about a week later when all was almost perfectly repaired, it was like a new world. I could see vivid details with everything no matter how far away, it was amazing. Now I almost take it for granted, but at first it was just amazing. I had never seen like that before.

Well, I guess it depends, I mean do you really feel it annoys you more not to be able to see perfectly or to wear glasses? The thing is, I think girls can be cute with glasses. I think guys are nerds when they wear glasses. That's why I wanted to ditch them. I was nerdy enough at the time without freakin' glasses, haha. Since then I ditched ever having to wear glasses, put on a lot of muscle, and stopped dressing like a prep, lol, so for me it was great to be rid of those things.

Lasik is actually surprisingly inexpensive. I went to one of the best surgeons in the world, up in Canada actually, and had it done for $2,400 total. I think you can get cheaper than that in the States but this guy has been doing it the longest, with the best results, and with a zero failure rate. So that was worth it to me...

I think your vision is very good, too good. I saw like that with my older pair. You can do everything without glasses, maybe just move a bit closer at school.

Do you want glasses?

I've asked this question on a lot of other boards too...And the opinions are split. I guess we'll have to wait and see if it's actually worth it once I get my glasses next week.

So, I got my glasses today.

My mom still doesn't seem convinced that I need them, but, whatever. Since they're a really weak prescription, and they do help my vision in general, I've just decided to wear them pretty much all the time. This'll hopefully make my mom feel better about it.
