The best gift is to let him know  that you're there and support him. My b/f is having substance abuse issues too and i know it's hard. so congrats to you for being a supportive g/f. that means more to him than you will ever know. :)

Yeah..

He got into heavy drinking after 3 of his best friends died in one year...

I've pointed people out who act stupid or dumb, or who hit their gf's or become abusive when they're drinking. He doesn't want that.

And yeah, I know that us working out, and maybe this helping his problem overall, I know that those should be rewards all in their own...

But I still want to get him something.
