OK so my idiot of a brother signed up for this stupid RealArcade site (which looks like a scam to me anyways, but w/e) and he put in some 'test credit card number' according to him..thanks to history, I found the site where he got them and it's a Paypal site listing test numbers so at least it's not anybody's actual credit card number. Anyways, blah blah blah he used that number and fake info. Thanks to me, at least nobody lost any money..yet. I made him cancel the stupid thing when I found it and thankfully they haven't charged it..I hope :( What should I do? I'm tempted to call up the company and just explain the whole situation. My brother is 14 so I'm pretty sure he's not capable of grasping the concept of fraud but hey, maybe I'll be sued for being involved in trying to fix the damn thing. Help!

Yeah, but there's still some lying going on there, and credit's always a sensitive/serious issue with these kind of things.. edit: And I'm not worried so much by the charging thing, but the 'getting brought to court and being sued' thing. :D Post edited at 7:51 am on July 6, 2008 by Anonymous

The OP is not being stupid, the person who said that is the one that is stupid, and it's not the same thing as setting up an account with a fake birthday. The site provides a service for a fee, and it uses the credit card information to get paid for that service. If you provide a fake birthday, the company is not out anything. However, if you use fake credit card information, then the company is out something if they provided service in reliance on that information. That is considered Theft of services, a crime in most places. Whether it is a felony or not, depends on local law, but it most certainly is a crime, and the fact that he is 14 or got the number off the internet doesn't change that.
