You could go to Last.fm and search for goth metal or goth rock and it will give you a list of bands and you can sample their music to see what you do and don't like

None of you guys mentioned what I think is "pure" gothic rock.  Where is The Cure?  What about Skinny Puppy and Bauhaus?  I know that Jesus on Extacy and some of the newer ones wouldn't be popular outside of mainland Europe, but I mean nobody mentioned a single gothic rock band.
