I'd also just like to add this. A video I made on pet store puppies/puppy mills. It's been posted here many times before, but I think it is worth posting many times again.
Another good point Raven. That video is really moving and true.
Find a dog at a rescue centre. Almost all of them are overcrowded and end up having to put some down. There are already too many dogs and cats, puppy and kitten farms are the worst thing because half the dogs end up as strays on the streets and authorities decide they need to cull them etc...
They breed novelty dogs like Schnauzers crossed with Poodles or 'Schnoodles' and Pugs crossed with Cavaliers, 'Pugaliers'... for fashion victims who probably don't know one end of a dog from the other. it's just plain money making and it's sick.

Exactly. Designer breeds are one of the most disgusting things in the world to me. I don't know how anyone can condone them. They make excuses like "there is NOTHING wrong with mutts" as if anyone ever said there was.
My favourite is "all dogs started out as mutts, even your precious purebred, so shut up". What they fail to understand is that there are OVER 500 breeds in this world who have not been created for a trend, who haven't been created in the past decade. They have set standards, and they fill a necessary niche in the dog world. Everything is already filled. If, on the off chance, you find a niche that needs to be filled, you are not going to fill it with a toy-sized mutt that you create by just breeding first generation dogs over and over and over again and selling for insane amounts of money.
I will NEVER understand why people cannot understand this. It is a simple concept, and they refuse, as if it is like learning rocket science.
