It depends on the car.

Personally, I enjoy meguiar's gold class because it's cheap and easy to come by, and the quality is nice. Filling is minimal, and it beads water VERY nicely.

I would probably use something by Zaino, Menzerna, or Souveran (All very prominent, and prestigious high performance brands.)

If you wanna read up on detailing, http://www.autopia.org can teach you a shit ton of stuff within the first five minutes. I've been reading a LOT Of stuff there and have learned quite a bit in the past few months on detailing, proper wash techniques, etc. Anything auto detailing related is there and then some. Check it out if you're into keeping cars clean.
