As it stands, anonymous eHelp posters can't message us without revealing their identity.

Could we maybe have a system that tells us when there are new threads there like our flashing e-help cross?

TBH with everything else i do on livewire I forget to go there.

It is nice in theory but not as nice in application it seems.

Maybe the answer is scrapping it.

I'm all for scrapping the serious forum for this reason. I never check there, so I don't know when there's new topics and all that.

If we do keep it, we need notification of new threads there.

I think people will bitch at notifications. Maybe we could have serious topics appear as a different colour, maybe blue, in the fresh topics list?

But according to your theme, the font colour in your Fresh Topics list on the side bar will vary.

That's different from having a huge flashing sign like eHelp does. Just have the bubble thing be blue instead of red/green.

That's true.  We should add a sign right underneath the eHelp sign.  That way, no one can really miss it.

Hm, I don't know. I just think having it pop up in fresh topics as a different colour would do the job. I don't really want another button on my sidebar.

I guess you can do that.  Can't we bold the titles as well?

We could just add a little emoticon next to it, just like the explicit topics. I find the flashing eHelps annoying enough. Obviously it's good that it lets us know when they're there, but the whole flashing emergency sign makes me feel like a bitch for not answer immediately. I'm not suggesting we change this, but I wouldn't like another one for TSF topics.

I agree with that. I think just a little notification when they appear in fresh topics would be enough.

Something I have been thinking of is that normal members should be able to have more input... I know at the moment a handful of members have asked SLs to post replies to SF topics for them, but perhaps we should clarify that this is acceptable?

Or perhaps (and this might be totally unworkable) normal members should be allowed to reply, but posts have to be approved by mods/SLs before they become visible?

Maybe there should be an announcement of how many unloved topics there are in TSF... perhaps in the eHelp section? Just a button saying '2 unloved topics' that leads to TSF...

I think there should also be a little message about TSF on the eHelp page... it says about the forums, but not about TSF.

Now, I LOVE this idea. I really do.

I do too.  As someone who isn't a peer support leader, I've seen several topics posted that I felt would have benefitted from what I had to say, but wasn't able to post a reply.  However, it would have to be strictly moderated (obviously).

i don't think getting rid of it is the solution. didn't david bring it back because so many support leaders wanted it back? the problem with the serious forum is, quite simply, no one replies. more people spend time answering eHelps. why? points? new eHelps are more obvious? figure out why more people are replying to eHelps, apply that as best you can to the serious forum and there you go.

really though, there's nothing wrong with the serious forum. more people just need to reply. that's it.
