webmd says: the two days before ovulation. That "window" is when women have the highest probability of conceiving a child.

14 days before the first day of her period is ovulation. 7 days earlier than that until 3 days after is the most dangerous time.
It really is hard to tell and it differs from woman to woman. If she is in her teens it is even harder to tell because her periods may not be regulated yet. This is why condoms were created. Affordable, easy, no counting and awkward questions about her period dates.
