i have a question for the people here who are religious. I used to be, but now I'm not so sure. Why do you believe in God? (Just want to know, not criticizing you.) I don't believe in him because I don't understand why he lets bad things happen to good people.

Ok, so i dont believe in God (raised a Catholic- now an atheist) but i know some reason why my mum does.
1) She doesnt understand any other way how the world could have been existed (im not calling all religious people stupid- just her) 2) if she didnt have God, she'd have no-one to blame 3) and no-one to trust 4) it makes her feel good about preaching to people.

god doesnt let bad stuff happen 2 good ppl,he just sits back & watches everything.we have free choice & sin so shit happenes.he has a plan 4 all of us,there r some road blocks on the way though but if u trust him everything will work out alright 4 u,some stuff is tests of faith

I don't like how God's all like "bow down to me or go to hell." It's not exactly how he says it, but that's basically the main deal. I don't want to believe in a God like that; it's a little megalomaniac-ish.
A lot of people just believe in God because they've been groomed to be that way. They don't actually understand it; they just repeat what they're taught.

I was almost run over once, but the car stopped like 2 inches away from my kneecaps.
Then one time i sliced my finger open when i was kid, spewing blood everywhere, had the piece of glass gone lower it would have sliced my wrist veins, luckily it stopped at the bottom of the index finger. the scar you can barely see, the finger looks totally normal.
God send his magic dust and prevents me from dying? pfftt ORRRR
it is just luck and not a big 99 foot man in the sky.
God put use thru test and trail for a reason and that is because to make use stronger.God does not do that just to see us hurt he does it because he knows what is best for us!

To take Latin muscles argument further I find it ironic that when something like say a building with 10,000 people in it collapses and everyone but one dies. Well the fact the one child lived must be a miracle so god must exist!

God put use thru test and trail for a reason and that is because to make use stronger.God does not do that just to see us hurt he does it because he knows what is best for us!
Actually, God's the one who made it that way. He's the one who made us smile when we're happy, collapse when we're exhausted, and learn from our mistakes. He could have made us laugh instead of cry, speak through colors, or whatever he wanted. So, he could have made us strong without having to go through tests and trials.
