A few of my Facebook friends have apparently found a legit one, and uploaded and tagged a screenshot of what the app listed as their "Top Stalkers." You can also look at your friends' "Top Stalkers."

Um... shit? I thought that Facebook didn't store info about what pages you visit (except for cookies which YOU can clear) OR I thought that there was some part of the Privacy Policy that claimed that this info was private and that they would protect it.

Can anyone find that part of the Privacy Policy? I can't.

They are all fake, for sure. But if you join the application, then your friends can see how many times you did.

It can't be legit, that wouldn't be allowed.

I'm fairly certain it just accesses your wall posts (which you have to approve) and just tallies up interactions with friends. I did it out of boredom earlier tonight and all the people in the top ten were people I'd spoken to a lot this week. Other friends who I speak to much more often filter their actions, so none shows up on my feed when they do anything; none of them showed up on the list, even though I know they're on my profile the most.

It does not break any rules because it's accessing your profile just as any other app does, and uses information you willingly provide it. If you don't want people to see you on their 'stalker' lists, you can hide any interactions you have with them, and it should stop happening. Worked for one of those other stupid bots recently, at least.

My reaction, too. So how would the app have generated those lists? The comments on them made it sound like they all believed it, and it seemed plausible. Maybe the app uses info about wall posts and photo tags instead of page views?

But WHERE does it say that that's not allowed? That's what I need to know.

Yeah, that makes sense. But I was searching for confirmation that using page view info is prohibited, but can't find it. I want to get my hands on it.

God, I hope it's not legit lol.

Its against Facebook's privacy policy, and the ONLY way it could gather any real information about you is if you add the app.

The tagged people didn't have the app lol.

WHERE does it say it in the Privacy Policy? That's what I'm asking! I just read most of it and can't find the damn part where it says that.

I'm fairly certain you can actually remove yourself from all ads/apps that your friends see. I believe this is the process: go to Settings>Privacy Settings>News Feed and Wall>Facebook Ads (tab near top of page)>Set "Appearance in Facebook Ads" to "NO ONE"> click "Save Changes." If it doesn't remove the stalker thing, it will remove your name and picture from any ads your friends might see (I believe the IQ test is a common one). I've heard it blocks both ads and applications like this, but I'm honestly not sure. Anyway, hope it helps.

Check the developer policy.

I couldnt cite where they said it, but I know they did say there are two fundamental privacy concerns that will ALWAYS be honored: People will not be notified when you deny there request. And they will not reveal who's profile you have been looking at.

Thanks, that does help. Idk why but I was just totally freaking out. I very much value my privacy, I guess.

Btw for anyone who was looking for it alongside me:

Facebook has actually shut down the popular app, "Top Friends" for allowing members to see too much info of other people (in the end, it was just a glitch in their coding and have fixed it).

All of them anymore, can only show as much as your security settings are set for and if that person has the app as well. Otherwise, it's against their privacy policy and can be shut down quickly for it.

If you're afraid of this, just work on your privacy settings. One of the things I absolutely love about that site is the fact that their privacy settings are very good (and very flexible).

Hey. so this program/ app that you are looking for did indeed exist until earlier this summer. Facebook order the app to be taken down because it was a violation of their policies. The app was called stalker check. if you Google "Stalker check" the first result will redirect you to the amended program that stalker checker turned into
