Republicans made a lot of jokes about that but the fact is Gore was the one who introduced the bill in congress that open the internet up for public use so he deserves a lot of credit for that.

But as far as inventing it- that was done by ARPA- a branch of the US military in the late 1960s.   They developed the data packet concept and established the TCP/IP protocols now used all over the world.

Well thank you so much falling angel13 for posting to tell us that.  It has added so much to our discussion.  It's as useful as all the "I don't know" posts people are always making.

As for gay marrage, congress doesn't have to do a thing now- after Bush is finished with the Surpreme court gays will be back in the closet.
