No, you need a passport, they are very strict about that now. As an American citizen it was easier for me to get into Gemany than bacvk into the US. In my exsperiance,The only country that is more annoying to get into than the Staes is the UK. Russia was not that bad, suprisinly. Sweden you just get of the plane and that is it, not even a stamp.

But its too late to get another passport though, isn't it? Because don't they have to mail it to you?

Ah, technically your right but I ahve gotten across plenty of border on contitintal European Union countries with out shhowing a passport by train, although they did check when I ws going from Conge Germany back to Amsterdam, Netherlands. Forget about that if you are going from London to Paris.

yep. but you cant get a train from germany to the states, you'll need a passport to even get past customs in germany, let alone america

You can probably expedite a passport. It's gonna cost a bunch but you should have it in time.
