Stop making so many goddamn new channels with nothing but crap on. Do we really need 20 different Discovery Networks or MTVs?

Consolidate channels. Focus more on trying to keep shows on the air than trying to get them canceled so more new pilots can air. Doesn't that make more sense?

Yes, we really do need multiple channels for the same network. The TV and Film industry has expanded so much over the years due to improvements in technology and access to new information, that networks feel the need to categorize their material into different channels.

It is also to compete with other networks doing the same. Why use less channels when you can make more viewers access your network through multiple means?

BBC for example has BBC 1, BBC 2, BBC 3, BBC 4.

BBC 3 and BBC 4 are new additions to portray comedy and specialist documentaries, dramas and other 'low key' materials to simply gain and target a wider target audience.

ITV did the same a few months after to keep up with competition.

And there are more channels that are going to keep on coming, HD for example is already popping up everywhere, soon there will be 3D considering how the industry is now trying to use the new cinema 3D technology so users can watch 3D television at home.

I don't mind multiple channels. I do mind it when the networks start putting in "filler" programming just to make a full schedule. Instead of adding crap, why not just have less channels?

It is still possible to categorize. Different blocks devoted to different types of show can exist. Nickelodeon has done it for years.... preschool shows in the morning, kids shows during the day, and adult programming at night.

Those programs may just be 'filler' to you, but to someone else they could be highly interesting and on demand.

Anyone that finds "Say Yes to the Dress" highly interesting should be shot down.

I would rather 20 different Discovery Channels than even just one Much Music or MTV.
