Have you ever traveled abroad on your own?( only for minors though).

I'm going to travel on my own but since I'm a minor, I've heard that I need to  have a consent letter from my parents. Is this letter really required? some people say yes & some say no..

when you say "on your own" do you mean with out the accompaniment of an adult/ guardian. or do you mean with out a guardian AND a recognized group to organize your travels (ie a school exchange/ study abroad program or something of that sort)

The if its the second option i wouldnt see it as being an issue because your at the will and freedom of that countries rules and regulations (ie drinking age, driving , curfews and what not.

If you went with a group chances are you would because it would more be a way to protect the company from lawsuits if you were to get drunk and raped (god forbid it happened for for conversation sake) your parents could sue the company saying why did you let my daugher drink...bla bla bla BUT if your parents gave a letter of consent the company could reply "Because you gave your daughter permission to Mr and Mrs Dnyuki"
