I moved from Canada to Germany four months ago, and it seemed like a great idea at the time. The first couple of months were very difficult, trying to adjust to all the differences. I know I haven't been here for that long, but I've seen a lot of the country already. I'm living in East Germany, but have spent quite a lot of time in the west, and would definitely, definitely, definitely suggest that (if you do move) you go to West Germany. Munich is a really beautiful city in Bayern, but in the south of Germany they have really thick dialect. Of all the cities I've visited in Germany (Munich, Hamburg, Berlin, Dresden, Dusseldorf, Essen, Dortmund, Erfurt and Leipzig, among others) my favorite was Essen. Not so huge, only 500 000 people, but a great city. Honestly my advice would be don't move to Germany, but if you're going to, hope this helps.
