is there a program like alcahol 120% that lets you mount/burn/create disk images of various types, including copy protected disks, or does anyone know if it works with wine or not

Daemon tools is a good program for mounting. That's all I know though.

Doesn't look good for wine :(

What are you trying to do specifically?  If you want to mount an ISO image, you can do it using

sudo mount -o loop /path/to/file.iso /path/to/mount/point

I can't find anything like alcohol 120% for Linux, but I think if you search for the thing you want to do with alcohol 120%, you'll find that there are Linux programs for doing those specific tasks.

K3B is what I use to burn and make disc images (and rip DVDs), you should be able to get it for Ubuntu.
