MODS don't just read the FUCKEN TITLE READ THE FUCKEN POST b4 U FUCKEN DELETE the topic I have Hypothyroid and I have known for about 3 or 4 yrs now I was being treated for it but U just gave up. I understand the severity of what I am doing. I just want it to stop. These are only a few things that can happen if I continue to dis continue my treat ment.... My father asked me just yesterday if I was taken my meds for it again and I told him know and eh looked at me and said.
" My father.Your grandfather just had a heart attack, he is going down hill rly fast, I will have to bury my father soon I don't want to have to bury my youngest daughter along side him..."
Oh yeah and My mom had a heart attack yesterday...
Ok so I'll explain to you Y I have chosen to stop treatment.
1. When I take the pills I get rly sick and it makes me feel as if I am dying
2. I have told my doctor about the feeling that I get wen I take the meds and she told me it was all in my head that I am just being defiant
3. I am scared that I will be diagnosed with thyroid tumors
4. I don't want to have to take pills for the rest of my life, knowing if I stop treatment after 10 yrs of taking the meds I could die any given time
5. I forget that I have to take my meds... like u have to take the pills at the same EXACT TIME EVERY DAY
Is Hypothyroidism Serious?
The presence and severity of symptoms are different for different persons. Although many symptoms of hypothyroidism cause distress, most are not dangerous themselves.
Indeed, proper diagnosis may be delayed or missed in older adults because the symptoms are considered "just part of getting old." An individual may not seek help until tiredness, impaired memory, or other symptoms have affected daily living so much that a family member or friend asks them to see a doctor. Others may go to a doctor only when physical changes such as dry, flaking skin and facial puffiness have become obvious.
Need To Know:
Untreated hypothyroidism can have serious consequences over the long term: * It may result in severe depression and, over a period of time, mental and behavioral impairment.
* The most severe form of hypothyroidism is myxedema, which is characterized by swelling of the face, tissue around the eyes, hands, and feet. Left untreated, this may progress to even more severe symptoms of hypothermia, which is a severe drop in body temperature, seizures and ultimately coma and death.
This need never occur with proper treatment.
The other major factor to consider in assessing how serious hypothyroidism is in any given individual is the presence (and, if so, severity) of associated health conditions.
