People are strange creatures, and the majority of us (though not all) are shallow to some extent, and that doesn't make matters any better. Its very difficult to find someone who has all of the qualities that you're looking for in a person; though this is dependant on your standards (though in many cases, standards set are reasonable).
A friend once gave me a qoute analogous to relationships, and while I don't remember it verbatim, it was something along these lines:
"You walk into a dollar store, and you only have 1 dollar to spend. Its ok to pick different things up, but you can only leave with 1; so before you leave, you better make damn sure you're comfortable with everything good AND bad about it."
In essence, everyone has faults. Its how willing we are to accept these faults and still love the person that matters. You'll find the right one eventually, just don't give up hope. The world is full of people- but that doesn't necessarily mean that every one of them is going to be your "cup of tea".
