Any Satanists I know of aren't actually evil - as in murdering and sacrificing animals or babies etc...They stand for the freedom which Satan represents. Because Satan isn't just pure evil, he is basically everything, good and bad. It's just up to you which one you want. And to him he doesn't care either way.

I also know that they do rituals, but I'm not sure what takes place or what they say etc...

It depends what kind of Satanism you're talking about...are you thinking more of theistic Satanism or atheistic? Are you thinking more of a "left-hand" path religion or just something that's moderately rebellious without all the real nasty stuff?
