would it have been possible for you to stay in those classes and see what grades you were gonna get? maybe do make work later on? just some things to think about just incase something else happens.

No.

Five weeks is way too much to miss of college courses. I would not have been able to make up the work.

Besides, it's only community college and I can just retake the classes next semester.

I'd rather drop and retake than risk low grades.
