But Caffeine is nothing like alcohol...it doesnt damage the developing brain, unless taken in large amounts. Alchohol does from the beginning, even a shot. I'd say it should be illegal for children under 14.
excessive drinking of coffee could discolor your teeth, disturb your sleep and put you in debt if it doesnt hurt your brains its going to hurt your (parents) wallets
lol, maybe if you're getting all your coffee from starbucks. just plain coffee, especially if you're just making your own, is dirt cheap, you can get a huge bucket of coffee grounds and it ends up being a few cents for a huge cup. unless you're in poverty, I doubt taht adds up to much of anything..

You are over exagerating this by huge proportions. The disturbance of sleep would not occur, lest you had a caffiene addiction. This would only occur if you were drinking excessivley large amounts of caffiene per day. Why/how would a child drink that much coffee, without getting sick? Discolour of teeth, bad argument, everything damages teeth. Even vegetables. Put you in debth? Seriously, now this is just stupid. A packet of coffee is like what, €3? One of those would last nearly a week. Come on. I see no reason for it to be illegal to young people over 14, 16 at most. Other substances are over 18 for specific reasons, caffiene does not fall into that category.
I answered to most of your remarks already someone else beat you to it but i'll answer to the one thing you're calling me stupid for look at the mess college students can get themselves into over coffee consumption i dont want to find out what kids can do, here's an extract:
a five-day-a-week $3 latte habit on borrowed money can cost $4,154, when repaid over 10 years.

This is stupid. 1. People under 18 really don't have to worry much about debt. 2. Straight coffee out of the coffee maker may color your teeth over a long period of time, but an iced coffee from starbucks isn't gonna do a thing. 3. It doesn't disturb sleep. It only would if you drank the coffee right before bed. 4. It doesn't hurt the brain. It doesn't hurt anything in your body, but maybe adds some calories. That's it. Your reasoning sucks.
1. i mentioned the parents 2. colored teeth is horrible condition teeth lets do what we can to minimize chances of it happening, im not saying its the only thing out there im just saying its one less thing now 3. but kids never want to sleep and if you told them the secret for pulling an allnighter lies at the bottom of a cup of coffee then guess what they'll be doing? 4. i never said it hurt the brains, i said 'if it doesnt' not the same thing my reasoning is not without reason and thats all i can say about it
Your reasoning sucks. You're dragging something so tiny out so far. Coffee is just like Soda. It damages your teeth and has caffeine. You sure do drink Soda, don't you? Exactly.

5 lattes x $3 x 52 weeks = 780 a year. Where'd they get the 4,154, anyway? Anyway, college students can go down to the dorm cafeteria and get a free cup of coffee if they want. It's all about sensible spending. People spend money on all kinds of stupid stuff.. and college kids are probably spending a hell o fa lot more on drinks at the bar.

Well, what you are saying is college students. All College students are over 18, I don't see how that ties in with under age people? And anyway, you are talking about going to the café everyday. $3? a child gets that from their parents a day anyway, and what with the richness of the developed countries anyway, this is a poor response. And further to your post, you didnt answer any of my questions. I said sleep would only be disturbed if you had a caffiene addiction. How does one cup a day count as addiction? You are over exagerating this still. Are you trying to say that all kids drink in excess of 3 cups of coffee a day? Cause to answer your question, very few even drink one. Come on, give some educated answer for fuck sake.

exactly. college students are over 18 and they cant handle the consumption of coffee without running up debt, how the hell can the underage deal with it are you telling me that you haven't seen someone who was under 18 use a credit card? if you havent then you dont live in a developed/rich enough neighborhood you're talking about the sleep patterns of under 18 kids i dont think there's been enough studies on the effects of coffee consumption and sleep of under 18s possibly because its illegal or something very few even drink one because its not illegal, i swear if you made it illegal they'd all drink 10 a day and no milk just hardcore black coffee

But now you're changing the subject completely...? A minute ago you said that it affects sleeping patterns, the original post states coffee should be illegal for under 18's. Now you say:
you're talking about the sleep patterns of under 18 kids i dont think there's been enough studies on the effects of coffee consumption and sleep of under 18s possibly because its illegal or something
. How the hell does that back up your previous statement about it affecting sleeping patterns? And why are you now talking about college students, when you started talking about children? I am greatly confused...you want coffee to be illegal, but then you say kids don't even drink it... I give up, I'm havin a drink.
