Why is McCain doing this?

Why did McCain say that they have Obama right where they want him? Obama is in the lead, according to the polls, and the momentum is currently going his way as election day nears. Why would anyone want to be behind? Furthermore, he's pulling out of battlegrounds and is beginning to run his campaign more like Obama (change theme, downing Bush and the last 8 years, fighter for the middle class, etc.), I don't understand what he's trying to do.

Personally, I think McCain should rally support for a fight and run his own campaign. I think it would look more honest if he didn't semi-mimic Obama's campaign, and it would help him get more support as a leader rather than a follower. Real thoughts as to what he's doing?

McCain likes to get his hopes up. Sadly he will lose this election.

McCain's campaign was doing really well in the beginning, and seemed promising. Now, it seems to be falling apart, and they're not pushing their own ideas, they're just bashing Obama.

It's sad, really, to me at least, because I support McCain over Obama based on their individual ideas and past records, but the way McCain's campaign is going now, and so close to election day, it seems like it's hopeless for McCain to get in.

Ugh.

I'm not. This isn't about who each of us are supporting, I was asking about the way McCain's campaign was being run.

yeah it's not looking good for mccain. he needs a serious game changer, or obama needs to have an illegitimate white baby. either one would work

but seriously, i don't know what mccain can do at this point. i think something seriously damaging will have to happen to obama's campaign in order for him to make any headway
